A Good Teacher Can Inspire Hope, Ignite the Imagination, and Instill a Love of Learning

Our yoga studio Buddhi Yoga opened its doors in 2014 after our owners Amanda and Carolina had been teaching in La Jolla for over ten years. Both of them studied with some of the best instructors in the country and taught in Los Angeles prior to making the move to San Diego. Carolina was certified in New York City and credits Dharma Mittra and Elena Brower for many of her skills. She also studied intensively with Bryan Kest and Steven Earth in LA, both big influences to the way she teaches today. Amanda received her 200-hour certification from Harmony Yoga with Chappy Foote and has also completed several trainings with Shiva Rae and Desiree Rumbauch. All of these teachers are highly respected individuals in the yoga community who dedicated their lives to the practice. Amanda and Carolina decided to create a bright open space to nurture the best yoga San Diego has to offer in honor of their teachers.

The Best Yoga San Diego Has to Offer Is At Buddhi Yoga

The teachers are one of the most important things in any studio, and that’s the one thing Buddhi Yoga doesn’t compromise on. Every teacher on the schedule is friendly, knowledgeable, and a true embodiment of the philosophy behind the physical practice. We don’t just hire anyone. Our instructors are truly a gift to our community and we choose individuals who are humble, passionate, kind and special in one way or another. The person we put in front of you to lead a class is truly one of the best in San Diego.

A Setting is Almost a Character of Its Own, Influencing the Other Characters in Ways They’re Not Even Aware Of

Our studio is perfectly located on the second floor above Lululemon, away from the busyness of Girard Avenue. When we were looking at spaces, a quiet and secluded place was at the top of the list. We knew we wanted big floor-to-ceiling windows, no mirrors, and a minimalistic approach to the aesthetics of the space. You won’t find any buddhas or tapestries hanging on the walls at Buddhi Yoga. You don’t need these types of things to make the space feel more “spiritual.” Our grey floors and seafoam green walls were meant to look like the ocean a few blocks away. The lush green patio is filled with plant walls that students use as drishti when practicing their yoga moves. The high vaulted ceilings make us feel expansive and the people who walk through our doors enhance the space with their positive energy. We’re often told by visitors from other places that Buddhi Yoga is truly the best yoga studio they’ve ever been to. Come see for yourself why this space is home to the best yoga San Diego and choose from over sixty classes a week for all levels.
